Grand Brook Memory Care

35 Years of Compassionate Memory Care

Life Engagement

The heart never forgets. A resident may not be able to recall a loved one’s name or relationship, but they always feel an emotional connection. Families fear the day when “mom won’t remember me”- but it is important to remember that the emotional heart connection is strong and unwavering.

Celebrating the Past while Enjoying the Present

Every resident at Grand Brook carries with them a lifetime of accomplishments, family stories, traditions, as well as personal preferences and pastimes. We recognize and celebrate these unique backgrounds through our Life Engagement Program. It is an honor for our staff to be able to connect with each resident on a personal level and learn more about their history. Many of our events and activities are intentionally organized around emotional connections and the activities your loved one has always enjoyed.

Life Engagement Program features:

  • Holistic methods to engage residents’ whole being through touch, music, dance and aromatherapy
  • Daily social engagement and physical exercise programs
  • Artistic expression
  • Day-trips, social outings and outdoor walking groups
  • Family cookouts, birthday and anniversary celebrations, holiday-themed dinners and events
  • Regular spiritual services, times of meditation, song and prayer

Fully Certified Life Engagement Managers

Our certified Life Engagement Managers understand that an active and spiritual environment is essential for the well-being of our residents. By involving residents in a lifestyle that stimulates the mind, body and spirit we are able to lower their anxiety, decrease frustration, increase joy and promote a sense of purpose. We understand that challenging behaviors are a reflection of underlying uncomfortable emotions such as fear, anxiety, boredom and frustration. Our team is ready and trained to anticipate certain behaviors and alter the environment in such a way that addresses their feelings.

Every Grand Brook Life Engagement Manager has met or exceeded state required certification. Each one participates in continuing education trainings to stay up-to-date with current trends and techniques required to effectively manage life enrichment at the Grand Brook communities.

"We have appreciated the thoughtful care and professionalism over the past six years that has been given to our family and our mother, who said, 'If she can’t be at home this is the next best place to be.'" Pam L.
